Middleton Jetty remains, Tasmania in B&W

Dating back to 1884 the Middleton jetty was used by steam boats to ship small fruits from the area to the processing factory in Hobart. It was also used by the Simpsons Bay ferry to carry passengers and freight from Bruny island. However due to insufficient depth of water around the jetty and inability to berth larger steamers at low tide it gradually fell into disrepair as residents started to use Gordon or Flowerpot jetties. During the bushfires in 1967 jetty was burned down.
